SNMP Trap Message Integration

SNMP Trap messages allow the operations monitoring system to passively receive preset system status messages from various information devices and integrate warning messages from other devices.
Once Watchdog completes the configuration of the SNMP trap list and the specified MIB/OID monitoring, the system will start monitoring the specified target.
As soon as the specified information device sends the corresponding SNMP trap, Watchdog will immediately receive it.

Passive Reception and Triggered Monitoring:
➢ Through SNMP Trap, the operations system can instantly understand the status of information devices without actively requesting messages.

Common information devices that send SNMP Trap messages include but are not limited to:
➢ Switches【Switch】
➢ Firewalls【Firewall】
➢ Routers【Router】
➢ Storage systems【Storage】
➢ Servers【Server】
➢ Load balancers【Load Balancer】

Watchdog system has the following types of source control for SNMP Traps:
➢ Only for IPs and MIB/OIDs on the list
➢ Accept within a specified IP segment range
➢ All information devices

Alert Mechanism Detection Methods:
➢ Unconditional forwarding of message content
➢ Conditional forwarding of message content, including:
➥ Based on data conditions【minimum alert threshold and maximum alert threshold】
➥ Based on string condition matching
Once the above conditions are met, it is determined as an abnormal event. The system will issue an alert and trigger the corresponding system commands to respond.

Simple Network Management Protocol - SNMP Trap, as a key function of integrated information operations monitoring, is crucial for comprehensively monitoring servers to ensure no events that may cause system operational abnormalities are missed.
When Watchdog detects any anomalies, it will immediately issue an alert and execute the preset alert mechanism to enhance overall security and operational efficiency.
