Speed Test - Network Performance Detection

The primary function of 【Speed Test】 is to analyze the data transmission speed between two servers or test the speed between two points. It involves sending a fixed amount of data from the sender to the receiver at regular intervals. The system records the obtained data and triggers 【Alert Notifications】 and 【Data Analysis】 based on the set values.


Importance of Network Performance Detection
➢ Network connection speed is a key indicator affecting end-user experience and server efficiency.
➢ Network performance is influenced by various factors, including poor line connections, faulty network cards or misconfigurations, issues with connected devices (such as Switches, Firewalls), and server overload.

WATCHDOG's Speed Test Function
In the WATCHDOG system, you can designate the WATCHDOG host to a Client server, or any two Client servers as the sender/receiver, helping the operations team perform speed tests from different angles and directions.

➢ Speed Test - Receive:
Set the receiving end of the data, which is the server receiving data from the sender. It is important to note that if you only set the receiving end without setting the sending end, there will be no data transmission, thus no speed test can be conducted. Therefore, when setting the receiving end, you should also set the sending end.

➢ Speed Test - Send:
Set the sending end of the data, which is the server sending data to the receiving end. Here, you can choose whether to perform a return test. If the return test is selected, the system will receive the data returned by the receiving end after sending the data, to perform a bidirectional speed test.

Special Note: If an alert threshold is set, please pay attention to the QoS settings of the firewall, which may cause the transmission speed (KB/sec) to decrease and trigger alert messages. The transmitted data will not be stored on the hard disk, so the data will not be affected by the hard disk specifications.
